Nike Air Jordan Coloring Page: A little find at TJ Maxx.

I picked up The Sneaker Coloring Book after Christmas on clearance at TJ Maxx for 7.50.  I didn't realize it would be such a great investment.

I like to put together notebooks full of free draw, coloring pages, finish the picture pages, and other activities for my early finishers and students I teach on the cart.  This gives them something creative and worthwhile to do while I'm setting up the white board, or getting everyone ready with supplies.

I knew Jordan's were pretty cool among the kids, so I included it in my K-2 packet.  I had no idea how much kids loved that shoe.  Almost everyone turned to that page first and began coloring.  Kids were asking for extra copies!  I did have extras that I had brought to my 3-5 school and put in the free draw bin.  Again, every kid was vying for the awesome Jordan page.  Your kids might like it too.  Enjoy.

Modern Mona Lisa: Free downloadable coloring page of Mona in her roller skating finery.

I like to follow up our da Vinci studies with a parody in art project.  In some classes, I become pretty involved in making my own parody along with the class.  This happened with my roller skating 70s queen Mona.  I decided to turn it into a coloring page!  Enjoy!
Here are some of my third graders' work:

PS I started an Amy Pond and The Doctor parody, but I'm not sure if I'll get it finished!

PPS did you notice the corner suns in some of their work?!  Nothing makes me happier.

No Corner Suns has 120 pins on Pinterest!

I just realized the crazy amount of free resources and lessons I have compiled on my Pinterest boards.  If you are interested in pinning and saving some of these much loved resources, check out my pin board.

My most popular pin is Ande Cook's "Drawing Masks" and really... anything else with the word "handout" in it!

Easy first grade color wheel coloring page: Why aren't color wheels all the same?

I teach first graders how to mix primary colors during an oil pastel project.  I have always had the students practice mixing on a scrap paper as I demo in the front of the room.  I suddenly realized that the class should be mixing on a color wheel!  In Illinois, it's not technically an assessment till fourth grade, so I never even considered it!  However; the flow of the wheel would definitely help some students understand it.  Plus, it starts to make a basic foundation and connection to many projects in the future.

Of course, 30 minutes before my class I get this grand idea.  I google "Color Wheel Coloring Page ."
I sift through a million results and cannot find a nice basic six color - color wheel with yellow on top.  Every color wheel I have ever had hanging on my wall has yellow on top.  The concept can be confusing enough to some kids, changing the order could really mess them up!

So, I made my own.  The Color Wheel Coloring Page for primary and secondary colors only, with yellow on top, is now available for download.  Enjoy!

Santa with a Guitar: coloring page

I didn't make this for school.  My husband used this as clip art or something to promote his music store at Christmas time.  I drew it, and figured I'd share it with you!

Masterwork Parodies: A worksheet featuring American Gothic and the Mona Lisa coloring pages

Kids love to create parodies of famous artwork!  I made up this worksheet for my kids as an end of year project.  It includes coloring pages, one of American Gothic, and one of the Mona Lisa.  My students would make their parody on plain white copy paper and use the coloring pages to trace the parts that stayed the same.

Girl and Boy Hot Dog Coloring Page

Part two:  More hot dogs with ukuleles to color.  This is not something I used at school, but made for my husband's music store and annual customer appreciation hot dog party!  By the way, this year's party is tomorrow!

Tiki Hot Dog Coloring Page

Everyone loves a hot dog coloring page.  Especially if it's a tiki hot dog with a ukulele.  I didn't make this for school, I actually made it for my husband's awesome music store and their annual HOT DOG PARTY!

Nefertari Coloring Page

This Nefertari Coloring Page was originally from a book that I unfortunately have no recollection of.  It is a quality picture and a nice supplement to an Ancient Egyptian unit.

Fruit Color and Cut Pages

My kindergartners learn about still life painting. We look at several fine art exemplars of fruit in still life leading up to making our own.  I teach students step-by-step how to draw different fruits, and we draw and construct our own fruit bowl still life together.
The Fruit Color and Cut Pages came about when I realized not all kindergartners have the skills yet to learn step-by-step drawing, or work together.  Every once and awhile a class seems particularly young and they really need to just work on coloring, cutting, and pasting.  We still learn about the genre of still life, but their project is done more independently.  Students get the Fruit Color and Cut Pages, color them, cut them, and glue them onto a bowl or plate they have drawn on construction paper.

Prehistoric Art Coloring and Reference Page

I teach kindergartners about the Cave Paintings of Lascaux.  We usually watch The Cave Painter of Lascaux, practice drawing animals step-by-step, and paint on our caves - or rather crumpled craft paper.   I put together this Prehistoric Art coloring and reference page for early finishers and for all students to take home to discuss what they have learned.

Vincent van Gogh's Bedroom at Arles Coloring Page

This reproduction of Vincent van Gogh's Bedroom at Arles Coloring Page was originally from enchangedlearning.com.  I turned it into a worksheet for my students' sketchbooks - or an easy early finisher page.

Rainbow Coloring Page

I teach the colors of the rainbow and the color spectrum to my primary students.  Once we made a giant rainbow scrap mural at the end of the year.  We've made linear rainbow mosaics and scrap rainbow collages.  I could never find an actual Roy G. Biv coloring page to have handy for early finishers or as an extension.  I made this Rainbow Coloring Page on the fly.  It does the job!  Just keep your indigo crayons handy!

Watch the Roy G. Biv video with your class and they will be singing it all day.  And love you for it.

It's the 100th day!

It is right around the corner... the 100th day of school!  My schoolmates asked me to draw a coloring page for the kids to do during their 100th day celebration.
I captured our grizzly bear celebrating.  You know what I think of on 100's day?  Only 80 days left. Yikes!
Here is the link for the coloring page you can print on 8.5" x 14" paper:
